Unit 8 Practical Sports Coaching

This unit allows students to show off their teaching skills, the surf academy surf school have worked with a group of students from Treviglas Community College. The year 10 group are mixed gender and ability.

The ASDAN group are a small group of students that come together during the week on regular occasions to improve basic skills in mathematics, literacy and teamwork. Taking the group surfing is obviously an opportunity for the ASDAN students to bond as a group whilst taking part in an adventurous activity.

The Surf Academy students assessed the needs of the individuals in the group and produced lesson plans that would meet these needs. As you can see from the pictures all students took part and had an excellent time. The sessions lasted an hour and students completed 4 sessions, students progressed from belly boarding the surf board to standing up.

Well done to all students for taking part in the coaching sessions, as this helped the surf academy students to complete the majority of the Unit 8 Practical Sports Coaching.
