Costs
What are the costs for the course?
The costs have been kept to a minimum, unfortunately we are unable to claim funding for the BSA coaching award and the RLSS "lifeguarding" course so students do need to pay for these courses. However we have managed to secure a discounted rate for both these qualifications. They are invaluable for any student to move into this area of employment after the qualification.
| Costs | |
| Enrolment to the college | £40 |
| Kit fees (Nineplus Hoodie and T shirt) | £35 |
| Lifeguarding Qualification | £175 (normally £250) |
| BSA Coaching award (Level 1) | £150 (normally £230) |
| Total | £400 |
These costs can be paid in instalments.
Is there any funding available for Older Students?
Students between the ages of 19 and 30 are eligible for a career enhancement grant. This is known as an Adult Learning Grant. Students apply for this personally and the grant is means tested, based on your last year’s income. Forms are available from the college when you have started the course.
Where can I stay if I come to Newquay?
Many students this year have stayed in one of the many surf lodges and then found permanent accommodation thereafter. Some information has been provided by existing students on the course. Student Thoughts
