BUSINESS SUPPORTERS

How is the Surf Academy different to other college courses? One reason is our extensive program of Business Supporters.

These businesses operate within the surf industry and are giving our students their time because they care about the future of the sport and wish to 'give something back'.

We are pleased to confirm the following supporters of our course:

Animal show their grass roots support for UK surfing by being fully committed to sponsoring our Cornish Schools Championships as the headline sponsor. The level of support in terms of awesome clothing, stylish watches, functional backpacks and other Animal goodies for the competitors just highlights how strong Animal feel about backing their home market. We can also arrange work placements for Surf Academy students with Animal.
Our official clothing partner. The most genuine, progressive yet soulful business out there. The owner of nineplus, Richard Balding has built a great relationship with the Surf Academy and we are very grateful for the genouristy of nineplus in making us look stylish!
Wesley Baker, the CEO of Pure Vacations surf travel company, is offering our students the chance to tap into his 35 years of knowledge of the Surf Travel industry. You will study how the Travel Industry works, how Marketing can mean the difference between success and failure and the importance of Customer Service. Pure Vacations will be used as a live, real life case study to help stimulate your learning. Pure Vacations will also consider you for a work experience placement that could be anywhere in the world...
Chris Tomson is the CEO of Errant Surf Travel Company. Like Wesley, Chris is willing to give you the chance to discover how his Business has become so successful. One of your University Modules focuses on how to start up a new business. Chris will guide you through a business plan and provide invaluable advice on how to succeed. Some of you who wish to become BSA Surf Instructors will have the option of achieving this qualification through Chris' professional training company based at Watergate Bay by Newquay. Chris also encourages Surf Academy students to undergo work experience placements at 'La Hosteria' in Northern Spain, run exclusively by Errant Surf Holidays, located in the village of Loredo. It is perfectly located a short walk from the ocean, the bars and restaurants. Jumping on a bike and exploring this area is a must. Backed by the impressive mountain range "Pico's de Europe" the endless green fields roll down the foothills, meeting the diverse and bountiful coastline of Northern Spain.
Saltrock are a genuine British surf clothing company who are a big supporter of our Surf Academy program. Saltrock have been the backbone of supporting the Cornish Schools Surf Championships with prizes for the past 4 years, much to the delight of the competitors!
Very, very tasty pasties! Ginsters kindly provide us with refreshments to feed over 150 competitors at the Cornish Schools Championships. Like Saltrock, Ginsters have supported us since the very first surfing championships and their continued support is greatly appreciated, especially by pasty aficionados like myself!

The home of surfing in the UK, Fistral Beach, is aptly the HQ of the sports governing body. You will have the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement with the BSA, shadow judge the British Universities Championships and learn about how the sport of surfing is organised in the UK. You might even become a fully qualified BSA approved judge as many of our students have done!

If you surf for a long time then you might end up with the dreaded surfers ear. As the bone in your ear grows to try and keep out the cold water, you will gradually lose your hearing. Over time this will result in ear infections. The only choice then to avoid deafness is the dreaded ear drill...very painful and no water time for two months! To avoid being part of this horror show try surf plugs. Surfplugs - custom ear protection for surfers and online surfers ear
